Ryan Marcus

Ryan Marcus's research focuses on “machine learning for databases,” specifically opportunities for improving query optimization with both modern and traditional reinforcement learning techniques. He is a postdoctoral researcher working with Professor Tim Kraska, and received his Ph.D. from Brandeis University where he was advised by Olga Papaemmanouil.  Before Brandeis,  Marcus attended the University of Arizona and worked at the Los Alamos National Laboratory.
